Changes in charging for natural gas consumption
Slovenský plynárenský priemysel, a. s. as of 1st Jan., 2008 has changed the way of charging for consumed natural gas – from the previously used volume unit of cubic meter - m3 it has shifted to the energy unit, kilowatt-hour – kWh, which is normally used by several European countries such as e.g. the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Spain or France. The change derives from the amendment of the Act No. 656/2004 on Energy. What is the benefit of this change for you?
The change to the energy units means more objective way of charging for the consumed natural gas. The customer pays for the quantity of the supplied energy contained in the consumed natural gas, rather than for the volume of the supplied natural gas.
As a customer you will acquire better orientation in comparing the prices of individual energies which are expressed in kWh
What stays unchanged in practice? The way of meter-reading of consumed natural gas will continue to be executed by reading of the gas- meter in cubic meters, therefore it is not necessary to replace the gas-meter meter or any change in setting of the gas appliances.
Conversion calculation to consumption in kWh will be then implemented by the gas supplier in compliance with the Decree of the Ministry of Economy of SR No. 559/2007, which was amended by the Decree No. 60/2008.
