Ecological, economical and safety advantages of motor vehicles with CNG drive are getting more and more supporters also in Slovakia. How did it all start...

The use of compressed gas for powering the vehicles is not a new idea in Slovakia. It follows on the conversion and operation of vehicles using compressed coal gas in the period prior to the World War II. In those days the coal gas was powering urban vehicles and taxi-cabs. The sufficiency of liquid fuels after the World War II meant the end of motor vehicles powered with gas in almost whole of Europe. Half a century later again reappears the gas drive, and thus in the whole world. However, this time in the background of the compressed gas use stand the environmental reasons.

Passenger transport on CNG

CNG filling stations in the Slovak Republic are used by approximately 170 passenger cars in the year 2008. Out of this number 80% of cars belong to private persons, the rest belong to business entities.
