The design of vehicles with CNG drive

The in series produced trucks and pick-ups with CNG drive are designed as single-fuel ones. The motor is usually specifically designed to be powered by CNG. The pressure tanks (containers) for CNG are built-in the trucks on the frame of the back axle, i.e. the user does not spot at all the difference between the CNG vehicle and the conventional vehicle.

The endurance distance of trucks with single-fuel CNG drive is approx. 400 – 700 km.

Currently most of the truck manufacturers produce in series the vehicles with CNG drive, e.g.:

trucks: Iveco, Tedom, Mercedes etc.,
utility vehicles: Iveco, Mercedes, Renault, Ford, Citroän, Fiat, Opel etc.,

CNG vehicles available abroad

Original, in the EU manufactured vehicles with CNG drive, with the original certificate of roadworthiness and the internationally valid CE certificate, can be individually imported to Slovakia. In this case there is also valid the international (European) homologation and the car can be officially registered with the police and operated in Slovakia. The disadvantage is that the authorized service is usually available abroad only.

ILaS Company, s.r.o. is the first example of CNG implementation in freight transport in Slovakia. The company performs distribution of bakery products in the region. In total it operates 12 trucks Iveco Daily CNG. At a various stage of progress there are projects of gasification prepared also by other business entities.
